Provence is a popular holiday region in the south of France. The landscape is dominated by sunflowers, vinyards and lavender fields. A wonderful sight to see! For sun, sea and beach, this sun-drenched region is the place to be. But that's not all Provence has to offer: forests and mountains, gorges and rocks, nature is beautiful here. So have you decided yet if you choose to spend your holiday on the French coast this year?

Holiday in Provence 2019

Discover Provence from your holiday home

In the summer you can enjoy wonderful temperatures in Provence. The perfect opportunity for a holiday home with pool. This allows you to cool down whenever you want. Choose a holiday home with private pool or a shared pool. If you love the coast, you can also rent a holiday home by the sea in Provence. Nothing beats relaxing in your own place in sunny France.

Provence: a region for everyone

Provence is a versatile region suitable for young and old. The active holidaymaker can go windsurfing, rafting or hiking. Children will certainly enjoy themselves in one of the water or amusement parks. There is something for everyone to do from your holiday home in Provence. Taste the typical atmosphere of a rural holiday home, villa or farmhouse in Provence. How about a villa with private pool or authentic country house between the lavender or sunflower fields? Or a Provencal farmhouse, among the vineyards? Enjoy the peace and quiet and the beautiful views over the mountains. The busy coast is never far away, so a holiday by the sea is also possible! To the west of Montélimar, there are many holiday homes around the river Ardèche, where you can take a lovely dip. The Gorges de l'Ardèche, a gorge carved by the river, is beautiful and can be explored by kayak or canoe. The gorge starts at the popular town of Vallon-Pont-d'Arc where you can admire the Pont d'Arc: a natural bridge carved out of rocks by water.

Further south in Provence are holiday homes around the Mont Ventoux, the highest peak of Provence. The mountain is very well known to Tour-de-France enthusiasts and sportsmen alike. The region is colourful with valleys, vineyards and cypresses. The river Sorgue provides beautiful nature with lots of greenery. The ochre-coloured area of Lubéron is a special nature reserve with abandoned ochre mines. Ruins and an amphitheatre remind us of Roman times.

On the coast, west of Marseille, lies the mystical landscape of the Camargue, a regional marshy natural park, rich in orchids, flowers, butterflies and special birds and insects. Pink flamingos live here, as do the famous white horses. Bullfights are regularly held in various villages in the region where the animals are only incited. Take a horseback ride or jeep safari to discover this special nature reserve. Even a quad ride is possible! You can also take a boat trip on the canal, the river that crosses the Camargue. Plenty of possibilities from your holiday home in Provence!

Sights from your holiday home in Provence

There is plenty to do in Provence. You can see and do a lot of things from your holiday home in this French region. Large cities, picturesque villages, lively village markets and always a music festival somewhere. Reasons enough to visit one of the places in this region. The cosy Montélimar is known for its nougat and even has a real nougat museum, which is also very nice for children. The miniature museum where you can admire tiny paintings is also special. The Palais des Papes is located in the lively, walled city of Avignon. In July, there is a large theatre and dance festival which is certainly worthwhile if you are staying in the south during this period. Nîmes is known as the 'Rome of France'. The Arena is one of the best preserved amphitheatres of Roman times. The village of Arles is known as the former residence of Vincent van Gogh, and has been the subject of his paintings for many years. The route of painters will show you some of these addresses. In Aix-en-Provence, you can walk between the narrow streets along the beautiful Renaissance mansions and art museums. Taste the history of the ancient city of Marseille, and savour the local speciality: bouillabaisse fish soup.

You will surely cherish this region with its wonderful climate, spicy food, vibrant markets and friendly residents with their melodious accent after your holiday. For years to come, the scent of lavender will remind you of that wonderful time in your holiday home in Provence.

Great villa and plenty of options and configurations to accommodate our 10 guests. The location was perfect with lots locally for shopping, drinks and restaurants. What a stunning beach area which we made the most of and only a very short walk away. As we are very active the walking was superb and our 10 mile hike around the cap de Antibes was a real highlight. Antibes itself was a perfect mix of history and modern and again was a great hit with the guests. Proximity to the Juan-Les Pins station meant a 10 minutes walk and access along the coast with our intrepid adventurers getting as far east as Fréjus and west into Italy to Ventimiglia, fantastic. Our group found something to do everyday including some time to use the pool and sun loungers. A few positive and negative points we did encounter and we list these a feedback for review / fixing. - Kazem was great, he fixed a shower flooding problem within hours to our satisfaction. - Instructions for alarms, wifi, bins etc. were hand written and perhaps typed clearer notes would help - Pool wooden decking area was a disaster. It was 'collapsing' and meant we had to tread very carefully to use the sun beds otherwise we would have had some injuries. As we were all adults we took extra care but it would be a no go area for children! - Master bedroom was 'tired', wardrobe door was stuck, draw fronts falling off, and too be honest the open plan bathroom does not work for us and would have preferred it more private. - Bedroom next to master, the en-suite needed a deep clean and shower resealed. - Outside covered 'Garage' area was scuffy and not that clean. BBQ was dirty and we found the oven trays under the BBQ and they had not been cleaned from previous occupants. (We used this area quite extensively to be in the open cooking). Kazem was most accommodating as we did arrive a couple of hours early and that may have disturbed his plans! One thing that would be extremely useful is a detailed floor plan of the bedrooms and configurations of beds. As we had a mix of three couples and 4-5 singles trying to work out sleeping plans was a nightmare and personally I and another guest ended up with single beds in one apartment and had we known would have asked these to be doubles and of course we could not close the partitions as the air-con was in the other rooms! Overall a fantastic time had by all and this is a villa and/or area we will certainly re-visit. Thanks Marianne and Belvilla

This is a fantastic villa! Our family of 10 people (4 generations) had a lovely vacation in this beautiful villa. The setting is very peaceful and relaxing and the view is breathtaking. The spacious bed rooms with private bathrooms, the nicely combined kitchen/living room and many terraces allowed for both privacy and a great social family life. We had many nice dinners at the terrace and our granddaughters loved the pool!

This house was really a top place! A really wonderful holiday and super suitable for us as 3 families with small children. We were very happy with the pool. We selected the house to be comfortable with naps etc and being around the house. The layout was nice, everything worked well and the contact was super comfortable. Highly recommended!

Our second time here with grown up children and grandchildren in August 2022. Very nice villa in pleasant surroundings. Building work on the adjacent site is now largely complete so less noise than two years ago but the entrance driveway is still unmade. There is a new dishwasher and American fridge-freezer which is good. However, unlike last time, we were only provided with one set of remote control keys for the two sets of access gates which made life difficult as we are two families with three cars all wishing to go out in different directions. This meant that someone had to be in the house at all times to provide access which was not very convenient. We asked for more remote controls but we're told none were available. The mixer tap in the kitchen is still loose and requires someone with a spanner to tighten it up and the pool has not been comprehensively cleaned during our stay (last time someone cleaned it halfway through the holiday). The house is very well equipped and reasonably well maintained for a rental but sun beds and umbrellas are all in need of upgrading (all umbrellas were partially broken). Wonderful views down the rolling mountains to the bay of Cannes and a very nice terrace with barbecue for warm evenings. Overall we had another enjoyable stay and these comments are not complaints, just constructive observations.
