De weg naar boven was smal en telde maar liefst 40 haarspeldbochten, waar je met 6 km/u door de bocht kon rijden om tegenliggers op tijd te kunnen zien. Daarna werd de moeite beloond met een prachtig uitzicht over de meren van het Lago Maggiore. De ontvangst was vriendelijk. Het appartement was goed. Een reis met de veerboot vanaf Pallanza naar Isola Bella is een absoluut hoogtepunt vanwege de prachtig omgeving met een bezoek aan het paleis en de supermooie Botanische Tuin.
